Our team of Pembroke Pines and West Miramar responds to storm damage emergencies 24-hours a day. Here are some hurricane preparedness tips to prepare your business when a hurricane is in the forecast:

As a Hurricane Approaches

  • Monitor forecasts closely to help you know when to act
  • Confirm that your employee contact lists are current
  • Secure all doors and shutter or board up windows to help protect them from flying debris
  • Clean out floor drains and catch basins and check drainage pumps
  • Move vehicles and mobile equipment to a safe location
  • Anchor and fill above-ground tanks to capacity with product or water to help keep them secure during the storm
  • Fill emergency generators and fire pump fuel tanks
  • Verify that fire protection equipment is operational
  • Make sure important records are protected – or duplicate them and move them offsite to a safe area
  • Shut down production processes safely and turn off power to non-critical equipment. Critical equipment, such as sump pumps and fire pumps, should remain operational.
  • Shut off all flammable liquid, combustible liquid, and gas lines in case a pipe breaks during the storm
  • Make sure outdoor sheds and furniture are tied down
  • Evacuate all employees

How Will Smoke Damage Be Restored in My Miramar Home?

8/2/2022 (Permalink)

Smoke rises towards a smoke detector. We are leaders in restoring smoke, soot, and fire damage in Broward County.

Smoke molecules vary in each fire event based on what materials burn during the fire. Our team of Pembroke Pines and West Miramar restores fire damage in Miramar using specialized equipment to restore smoke residue and odor from homes and businesses.

  • Air Scrubber or Filter
  • Heating, ventilation, air conditioning system (HVAC) air scrubber, or a high-efficiency particulate air filter (HEPA) air purifier can capture larger smoke molecules. There will still be some residual odor from smaller molecules or surface residues.
  • Ozone Generator
  • An ozone generator is a fast and highly effective smoke odor restoration method. These machines emit ozone, which follows the same paths through the air as smoke and oxidizes any residual traces in the air or on surfaces.
  • Thermal Fogging
  • Thermal fogging is an intensive treatment involving fogging machines. After residents evacuate, smoke cleaning professionals fill a structure with petroleum distillates that neutralize odors and ventilate the area.
  • Hydroxyl Generator
  • A hydroxyl generator is a slower and gentler alternative to ozone. These machines rely on ultraviolet light to generate hydroxyl radicals that eliminate smoke odors. It will take about three to five days of continuous operation to achieve the same results as a single ozone treatment.
  • Vapor Modification
  • Vapor modification is another odor elimination method that relies on aromatic compounds and a blower or fan to neutralize smoke odor

Lightning Safety Tips for Miramar Residents?

7/13/2022 (Permalink)

Lightning is seen overhead during a thunderstorm in Florida. We are trusted leaders in storm damage restoration services in Broward County.

Our Pembroke Pines and West Miramar team has the training, equipment, and experience to restore storm damage quickly and efficiently. Lightning strikes are common in Florida. Here are some lightning safety tips from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration:

  • Avoid isolated tall trees, hilltops, utility poles, cell phone towers, cranes, large equipment, ladders, scaffolding, or rooftops
  • Avoid open areas, such as fields
  • Never lie flat on the ground
  • Retreat to dense areas of smaller trees that are surrounded by larger trees, or retreat to low-lying areas but watch for flooding
  • Avoid water, and immediately get out of and away from bodies of water
  • Avoid wiring, plumbing, and fencing. Stay away from all metal objects, equipment, and surfaces that can conduct electricity.
  • Do not shelter in sheds, pavilions, tents, or covered porches as they do not provide adequate protection from lightning
  • Seek fully enclosed, substantial buildings with wiring and plumbing. In modern buildings, the interiorwiring and plumbing will act as an earth ground.
  • A building is a safe shelter as long as you are not in contact with anything that can conduct electricity (e.g., electrical equipment or cords, plumbing fixtures, corded phones). Do not lean against concrete walls or floors (which may have metal bars inside).

Leaking Sprinkler System in Pembroke Pines?

7/12/2022 (Permalink)

An automatic sprinkler system is watering the lawn. We restore water damage “Like it never even happened” in Broward County.

Do you know how to tell if your sprinkler system is leaking? Our Pembroke Pines and West Miramar team responds to water damage emergencies each year in Pembroke Pines. Leaking sprinkler systems can cause water intrusion and damage to your home’s foundation. Here are some tips for determining if your sprinkler system is leaking.

  • Find your main sprinkler system valve and shut it off
  • Once you shut off the sprinkler system valve, look at the low flow indicator on your water meter. If it keeps moving, the water leak is inside your home.
  • If the low flow indicator stops moving, the leak is in your main sprinkler system pipe
  • To check for visible irrigation system leaks, turn off your sprinkler system valve and wait at least two minutes. This allows the main sprinkler system pipe to refill with water.
  • Go to your controller and turn on the zone. Go to the zone you turned on and listen for water running.
  • Do you see water bubbling up from the ground? Are there any wet spots or pooling of water?
  • Look for broken sprinkler heads in the zone. If water is not hitting the target area or flowing out of the sprinkler heads, you will need to replace the sprinkler heads.
  • Repeat this process for each zone in your irrigation system
  • Call a certified irrigation contractor if you can’t fix the problem by replacing the sprinkler heads

Fire Safety Tips for Older Adults in Pembroke Pines?

6/14/2022 (Permalink)

A caretaker discusses the fire drill with an older adult. We respond to fire damage emergencies 24-hours a day in Broward County.

Our Pembroke Pines and West Miramar team responds to fire damage emergencies throughout the year in the Pembroke Pines area. Here are some guidelines to help older adults stay safe around fire from the National Fire Protection Association:

  • Keep it low
If you don’t live in an apartment building, consider sleeping in a room on the ground floor in order to make emergency escape easier. Make sure that smoke alarms are installed in every sleeping room and outside any sleeping areas. Have a telephone installed where you sleep in case of emergency.
  • Sound the alarm
The majority of fatal fires occur when people are sleeping, and because smoke can put you into a deeper sleep rather than waking you, it´s important to have a mechanical early warning of a fire to ensure that you wake up. If anyone in your household is deaf or if your own hearing is diminished, consider installing a smoke alarm that uses a flashing light or vibration to alert you to a fire emergency. View a list of product manufacturers.
  • Do the drill
Conduct your own, or participate in, regular fire drills to make sure you know what to do in the event of a home fire. If you or someone you live with cannot escape alone, designate a member of the household to assist and decide on backups in case the designee isn’t home.

What Are the Signs of Water Damage in My Pembroke Pines Home?

6/7/2022 (Permalink)

Water damage on a wall causes paint to peel. We restore water damage 24-hours a day in Broward County.

Do you know that paint peeling on a wall is a sign of water damage? When the drip pan on our air conditioning unit began to overflow inside the wall, the paint in the corner of the room started to peel. We called the team in Pembroke Pines and West Miramar. Their technicians used advanced technology to locate the source of the hidden water damage quickly!

Here are some ways to tell if you have water damage:

Wet areas or water pooling on the floor

You probably have hidden water damage if you notice water on your floor with nothing to attribute it to.

Dark or wet spots on the walls or ceiling

Look for discoloration on your walls or ceiling both inside and outside your home.

Flaking, cracking, or bubbling paint or drywall

Water seeping behind a wall will cause this to happen.

Visible dripping water you can see but dripping where it should not be

If you see any signs of water leaks, it may be a symptom of a bigger problem somewhere in your plumbing systems.
